Uniting for Progress: Building a Brighter Future for Greater Boghé
Overview
The Greater Boghé Association (GBA) was founded in December 2006 to bring together the Boghé Diaspora in the United States to support their communities in Mauritania. The Greater Boghé region comprises over 27 villages, where many residents continue to face critical challenges in accessing basic needs such as healthcare, education, and economic opportunity.
GBA addresses these challenges by engaging in collaborative efforts—often partnering with NGOs—to promote health, support education, and strengthen the resilience of local communities. At the same time, the association serves as a hub for the diaspora, fostering unity, cultural pride, and leadership among its members, especially the youth.
Vision
To cultivate a united and empowered community—both in the diaspora and at home—that works together to create lasting impact. We envision a future where every individual in the Greater Boghé area has the opportunity to thrive through shared commitment, collaboration, and access to essential resources.
Mission
At GBA, we believe in the strength and potential of our community. Our mission is to mobilize the intellectual, cultural, and financial resources of the Boghé Diaspora to support meaningful, lasting change. Through both short-term initiatives and long-term development projects, we are committed to improving the quality of life for all people of the Greater Boghé area.
Objectives
Educate and empower communities in the Greater Boghé area to become more self-sufficient through sustainable development practices and local engagement.
